Three steps to a smaller attachment. Your original stays untouched, so you can compare versions and adjust the settings.

Select a platform preset, or enter a target such as 10 MB or 25 MB. Keep H.264 for broad compatibility and choose a resolution that suits your clip.
The video compressor shows the actual output size. Drag the divider to compare original and compressed details, check the sound, then save your MP4.
A video compressor divides the available data across the full duration of the recording. A one-minute clip has more room for detail than an hour-long recording at the same target size. The video compressor starts at the source resolution and offers only smaller choices. If the source has nonstandard dimensions, those dimensions appear under Original. For a portrait clip, 720p refers to the short edge; the picture keeps its proportions, with dimensions rounded to an even number of pixels where needed. This changes resolution without cropping or stretching the frame.
For text-heavy recordings, increase the target size before lowering the resolution.
Choose Custom and enter the size your recipient accepts. The video compressor calculates a budget from duration, reserves space for sound and checks the finished file. The target is the size you want to stay within; the result may be smaller or occasionally exceed it.
Duration changes what is practical. At a 10 MB target, our current settings allocate about 2.46 Mbps to a 30-second video, 1.17 Mbps to a one-minute video and 0.195 Mbps to a five-minute video with audio. These are calculated budgets, not measured quality scores. The long clip needs a larger target, fewer pixels or a shorter source.
MP4 describes the container, not its compression level. A compact source may offer little further saving. Use a smaller target only if the preview still preserves the detail you need.
The video compressor saves an MP4 instead of overwriting your MOV. Keep H.264 for recipients with older devices; H.265 appears only when a compatible encoder is available.
The video compressor must support the codecs inside the file. WebM-to-MP4 compression can change the codec as well as the size. The original extension alone cannot predict the amount saved.
Fast video compression depends on the whole workflow, not just the encoding percentage. These implementation choices reduce transfers, avoidable work and unnecessary engine loading.
This video compressor reads the selected file directly on your device. There is no media upload before encoding or server download afterward. Loading the website and its processing modules still requires a connection.
We use Mediabunny to read the media and WebCodecs to access a supported browser encoder. Hardware acceleration depends on the browser and device. The heavier FFmpeg compatibility engine loads only when the H.264 native path is unavailable.
The video compressor reads source frame timing and bitrate, forwards the tested encoder configuration and avoids adding unnecessary frames to a source with a lower frame rate. It checks the result and makes an additional size-correction attempt only when needed.
When using this video compressor for a screen recording, inspect a menu or caption at its normal viewing size. Increase the target before reducing resolution if text is hard to read. For sports or moving foliage, check a moving section rather than only a still frame. For a talking clip, listen to the start and end.
Use the comparison divider at the same playback position. If the video compressor reports that the result is still above your target, it is not ready for a strict attachment limit. Choose a larger allowed target, lower the resolution, or shorten the original in your editor. Your original file remains available.
In this video compressor, input size and output target are separate. For a 2 GB recording, choose Custom and enter the size your recipient accepts; 16 MB may be too small for a long clip. Start with H.264. For 4K footage viewed on a phone, compare 1080p or 720p; for a tutorial, check the smallest text before lowering resolution.
If the video compressor reports a memory error, close other demanding tabs and try a lower output resolution. For a storage error, check the available disk space and whether the browser allows this site to store data. A smaller target cannot repair an unreadable source. Keep the tab open, and retry the original on a computer if a phone repeatedly stops. The 4 GB selection limit does not guarantee completion.

About this video compressorChoose Email for a 25 MB target or Discord for a 20 MB target. WhatsApp targets 16 MB and Slack targets 100 MB. Each card shows the size used for compression. Choose Custom to enter another size, then check the actual output before sharing.
Enter the target in MB. We reserve room for audio and the MP4 container, then check the output. If it is too large, the video compressor retries once from the original. Some files still exceed the target; that is shown clearly. Try a lower resolution or a shorter source.
Re-encoding is lossy, so identical quality is not guaranteed. Start with a moderate reduction at 720p or 1080p. Fast motion and small text need more data than a simple scene. Use the comparison divider to judge the result and keep your original file.
Yes. You can compress and download without an account or payment. No watermark is added. It works with one file at a time, subject to your browser and device limits.
No. Video, audio and filenames stay on your device. The website downloads its processing software when needed. Large jobs may use temporary browser storage; canceling or replacing a result releases it. After a forced browser exit, you can clear this site’s data in browser settings.
Select MP4, MOV, M4V, WebM or MKV; the codecs inside must be supported. The video compressor exports MP4 with H.264 by default. H.265 is available when a compatible encoder is detected, but some recipients may need a different player.
You can select up to 4 GB. Completion depends on memory, storage, codecs and resolution, especially on phones. Keep the tab open and use a computer for demanding jobs. Not every large file will finish on every device.
Choose a source file that is available on your device throughout processing. A MOV can become MP4 if its codecs are supported. Keep the tab open, start with H.264 and test the downloaded file in the intended player. The video compressor uses your device’s memory and storage; a long 4K recording may need a computer or a lower resolution.
